When you look in the mirror, what do you see?
Or do you shy away from looking because a voice in your head repeats mean words back at you—about your weight, your skin color, or that birthmark that doesn’t quite fit? Do you hear the voice of relatives shaming you for having big eyes or a big nose, or classmates diminishing you?
Those voices are real, and we often accept them and carry the burden of those curses as if they were true. Unfortunately, when you believe a lie for so long, it begins to feel like truth.
The enemy often starts early—when you are young and unable to fully comprehend what is happening. For many of us, we didn’t activate the Holy Spirit early in life or truly pray as we should have, so those wounds followed us into adulthood and slowly developed into a victim mindset.
The victim spirit, as I would call it, influences you to be overly sensitive to opinions, too reactive to people’s actions, and quick to blame others instead of taking accountability. You begin to pull away from people, criticise more easily, become bitter, and choose isolation because you “don’t trust” anyone. In your mind, everyone is against you. You become overly paranoid.
I’m sure you’ve met someone like this and thought, “This person is doing too much—it’s really not that deep.”
And often, it’s not the situation—it’s a spirit influencing their response.
So how do you know whether something is from God or from the enemy?
You look at the fruit it produces.
When something is from God, it brings peace, clarity, humility, and growth. For example, a spirit of excellence allows you to do your work well and remain calm and humble. But perfectionism produces anxiety, over-criticism, and restlessness.
A victim spirit avoids confrontation, blames others, ignores people to hurt them, isolates itself, and never acknowledges personal character issues. A mind guided by godly conviction, however, allows you to see where you went wrong, apologise, take responsibility, and move on. If someone wrongs you, you address it in love and release it. You find peace and may even feel prompted to pray for that person. In Romans 12:21, Paul urges us to overcome evil with good. You have to deal with things and MOVE ON with peace by doing something good for the person . Why? simply because if they are the ones in the wrong, God will judge them, and his revenge is always sweeter. You gotta keep your hands clean and let God do what he judges best for the person. This doesn't mean for certain cases you can't look for justice using the human system, even in that you trust God to use his agents to judge the person, and you focus on forgiveness and MOVING ON with your life.
You are above offence
Victim mentality keeps you stuck on an issue for days—or even years—when it should have been discussed, prayed about, and released. The enemy uses offence and unforgiveness to steal your time and delay your growth. Forgiveness is not always for the other person—it’s for you, so you can move forward and focus on the future God is building.
Imagine how many people are still trapped in something that happened ten years ago, wondering why their life keeps going in circles. New year, same patterns. Same spirit—different people. Their soul is stuck in a moment that caused delay, and healing—whether through therapy or supernatural restoration—is needed to move forward.
I remember that every time the Lord sent me to speak to someone I still had a wound with, He would say to me, “You are above offence.”
That immediately reminded me of Our Lord Jesus Christ —how the Pharisees and religious leaders constantly tried to humiliate Him publicly to discourage Him. Yet He rose above offence every single time. It never stopped His mission—not even on the last day.
Even today, people discredit Christianity and mock it, yet our Lord remains King above all, seated on the throne. His power is still evident in our lives—through small and great acts—because honestly, I don’t think He cares about the naysayers.
He is above offence. I'm here to tell you, you're above all offence, criticism or attack against you. You can and will rise above it all.
Remove the veil
There are many things that hinder us from seeing ourselves the way God sees us—including body image. Many people struggle deeply with insecurity about their weight and appearance. As I was praying, the Lord revealed to me that for some women—especially those who are overweight or plus-size—it is not always just the body. Spiritually, the weight can be influenced by a spirit.
This spirit can cause emotional heaviness, self-hatred, anger, and toxicity, leading to health complications and deep shame. In reality, the body is hosting something spiritual that needs to be addressed first. That is why some people struggle to lose weight despite trying everything—because the spiritual root hasn’t been confronted.
When people come into agreement with that condition and say, “This is just my body; people have to accept me,” the spirit finds permission to remain. Healing must begin spiritually before natural measures fully work.
If this speaks to you, I pray deliverance and healing over your life—that you may step into the body God truly designed for you, and that your health may be restored in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
If every time you look at yourself you hear insults, if you attack your skin and appearance with your own words, pray against that. That is not how God sees you or speaks to you.
I pray that any veil over your eyes—preventing you from seeing the goodness of God over your body—be removed in the mighty name of Jesus. May you understand that the most important part of you is your spirit and soul, and this body is a vessel for earthly purpose. If your spirit is created in the image of God and leads your life, then you are beautiful—regardless of what the world says.
You are beautiful.
You are handsome.
You are blessed beyond measure.
Take time in prayer and ask the Lord, who heals, to heal your inner wounds. Ask the Spirit of Truth to reveal what has been buried deep in your heart so it can be brought to light. Often, what keeps us bound is what we are unaware of. Healing begins when what is hidden is revealed, surrendered, forgiven, and released.
Give yourself the chance to see yourself differently—through healed eyes.
What others see in you will change when you change how you see yourself.
Take a moment to pray for inner healing. Ask for eyes that see your beauty beyond your past, and step into the future the Lord has prepared for you.
